Namibia continued

Keetmanshoop to Laura's Birthday at Joe's
June 29 - July 4

Our last weekend in Namibia we spent with Rusty from Cape Town, Mike from Illinois who had finished his 21 day tour all over, Leslie, and a bunch of people from Durban, Cape Town, and from all over Namibia. It was a lot of fun to be with the people, and after our retreat through the canyon, we were in a good spiritual space to try and tackle the rest of our trip. Sunday, Leslie got a ride to Windhoek but we were still booked on the train, and I was looking forward to more bad movies. After Rusty and the rest of our friends left Keetmanshoop, we made our way to the Chapel Inn and hung out in their gardens until 6:00, when our train was to leave. Laura read and wrote in her journal, then embroidered, and I finished reading THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Our wait, though, wasn't over yet. Our train didn't arrive until 9:00, and so in the train station we played Crazy Eights and War until the train came, and we even finished a game of War. It was the first time I had ever finished a game of War. We were in a sleeper, so we didn't get any movies, and we unrolled our sleeping bags and slept the night away. It was very cold on the train so we were happy to have such wellmade bags.

Windhoek and donuts. Two more nights at the Rivendell, and Laura's birthday. July 2 is Laura's birthday and for her birthday she got a drawing pad, colored pencils, and a swath of cloth for embroidery practice. For me, I got two more books on African politics! That night we were going to go to dinner at Joe's again, this time with Leslie, to celebrate Laura's birthday, but both Leslie and I got sick. We stayed in at the Rivendell, Laura made Kenny's Spaghetti, and while I watched tv, (NBC - Namibian Broadcasting Company), Frasier, Dharma and Greg, Laura talked German with a Polish girl who was living in Germany. A great time was had by all. The next night, we celebrated Laura's birthday in style, not only with Leslie, but also with Lederhosen Lutz! He was back in town! And so our time in Namibia ended. July 4, we boarded a bus and drove on to Botswana.
