Western
Europe continued Wed 10/3 Day 12 Colmar
- Zurich. Ibis Zurich Messe-Airport Early, we drove onto Zurich. Ooops, I left my passport back at the Hotel Turenne. Oops. Early, we drove back to Colmar, picked up my passport, and then drove on to Switzerland. In Zurich, well, we did some sightseeing, we decided it was easier to save Basel for another time. I went looking for my watch. I didn't buy a Guess, but at a fraction of the cost, I got a Swiss Military watch. I can't go into details about my time in the Swiss army, but I'm pretty ambivalent about it anyway. We wore a lot of khaki, that being neutral color. Do you get it? Do you get it? Mostly Zurich was strip clubs and watch shops. At our hotel near the airport we did get to see more prostitutes with their Johns, so that's always illuminating. Our last meal was expensive, but the rosti, kind of like hashbrowns on steroids, was awesome. Expensive, but awesome. Our last night was pretty mellow. I dropped out for some alone time reading the current issue of The Economist, and the rest of the folks packed and watched TV. Thurs 10/4 Day 13 Thursday 04 Oct 01 And the tour of France ended. My parents
got on the plane and Laura and I hoofed on to Germany. We would
see them again, in the U.S., in less than forty-eight hours.
The world trip slowly was winding up. I must say, at times we
hoped my parents would cancel the trip so we could go home early,
but I am sooo glad that we had that time with them in France.
It really felt like a vacation/adventure, and it went really
well. It was the icing on the cake, and we left the main part
of the world trip on a real high note. Being with my parents
made us both excited to see much more of them in the future,
and it made moving to Colorado seem like the right thing to do.
It was just unfortunate that Laura's mom or dad couldn't have
joined us on the road. We would get to see them later though,
and we did spend time with Dennis, literally, on the road. I think this was a train station in Zurich, quite impressive! A view of the old town area along the river we walked around, looking for watches of course!
